Community Development Officer

Bila Muuji Aboriginal Health Services are seeking x2 Community Development Officers based in Dubbo

Employment Criteria

Must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (N.B. An applicant’s race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)


  • Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant field (e.g. AOD, Community Services, Health Promotion)


  • Experience working with local communities to achieve shared goals
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • Significant experience managing stakeholders and developing networks
  • Experience developing and implementing activities including community-based activities
  • Experience working within AOD or another relevant sector

Skills and Knowledge

  • Understanding of community development, health promotion and AOD harm reduction principles and strategies
  • Understanding of the principles of evidence-based practice
  • Familiarity with the National Drug Strategy harm minimisation approaches (harm, supply and demand reduction)
  • Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems (CMS’s)
  • Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable skill and understanding of working independently and showing initiative while operating within structures and guidelines


  • Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence
  • Current National Police Check
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) number

Yoorana Gunya - Registered Nurse

Yoorana Gunya Family Healing Centre Aboriginal Corporation has a vacancy for a full time Registered Nurse to join our growing team. We provide a friendly, positive and respectful work environment with a focus on providing holistic, high quality primary health care. We provide a variety of other services to improve patient social and emotional wellbeing. The suitable candidate will need to be professional and work collaboratively with our dynamic team.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  • Current Registered Nurse with a minimum of two years post graduate experience
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills to provide safe, effective and evidence based nursing care
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of clinical software and information technology
  • Ability to contribute to quality improvement and research activities to monitor and improve the standard of care provided
  • Ability to share information and work collaboratively with the general practice team
  • Current Immunisation Provider certificate
  • Competent completing health assessments and care plans
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Well-developed skills in written and verbal communication
  • Understanding of EEO’s, EAPS and ethical work practice principals
  • Ability to provide culturally appropriate care or previous experience working in Aboriginal communities
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check and current Criminal History Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR


  • Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Quality Practice Accreditation
  • Experience in Chronic Disease Management, including Chronic Disease Care Plans and Health Assessments
